To become eligible for Board Certification in Medical Acupuncture, one must graduate from medical school, complete a residency in one's specialty, and then receive at least 300 additional hours of Medical Acupuncture education approved by the American Board of Medical Acupuncture (ABMA). After training, a minimum of 2 years of Medical Acupuncture clinical experience and an acupuncture case history of not less than 500 medical acupuncture treatments are required before being allowed to take the Board Exam.
Dr. Kharbat is Board Certified in Medical Acupuncture with training and experience greatly exceeding the requirements for Board Certification. She is trained in Chinese, Korean, Japanese, French, and Neuro-Acupuncture (Craig-PENS) through the UCLA/STANFORD HELMS MEDICAL INSTITUTE and has performed more than 10,000 medical acupuncture treatments.
